 Rally to Lift Moratorium

NEW IBERIA- The major rally against the
federal moratorium on deepwater drilling is
planned for Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at the
Cajundome in Lafayette from 11:00 a.m. to
1:00 p.m.

The Greater Iberia Chamber is asking that
business owners and managers work with
minimal staff and send as many employees as
possible to event. “Organizers expect
national media at this event. We need to
pack the Cajundome so the rest of the country
can see not only how important this issue is
to Louisiana but to the entire nation as
well,” said Janet Faulk, President & CEO
of Greater Iberia Chamber.

The free rally is expected to have 15,0000
– 20,000 concerned citizens and will
provide an opportunity for people impacted by
the moratorium to send a clear and united
message to the president and the Obama
administration – to lift the moratorium and
save Louisiana jobs.

The rally will feature local, state and
national speakers along with public officials
who are concerned that the moratorium will
create an economic ripple effect that will
negatively impact everyone in the United
States. Speakers will include: Governor Bobby
Jindal, John Hofmeister; Founder and CEO,
Citizens for Affordable Energy, Ewell Smith,
Director of the Louisiana Seafood Board.

Entertainment will be provided by country
singer Sammy Kershaw, food and drink
concessions will be open for the event.

There will be heightened security for the
event; therefore, purses, bags and signs,
etc. will not be allowed in the Cajundome.

Parking and shuttle busses will be available
at Blackham Coliseum starting at 8:30 a.m.
