Cathy Indest to receive Civic Service Award

The Greater Iberia Chamber of Commerce selected Cathy Indest as the recipient of its Outstanding Civic Service Award. Chamber President and CEO Janet Faulk-Gonzales announced the news on Dec. 13, 2012 during the chamber's Business After Hour held at the Ramada Conference Center in New Iberia.
The Iberia Parish Convention & Visitors Bureau nominated Indest for her ongoing efforts to reawaken the cultural spirit of Iberia Parish citizens and her contributions to tourism product development. Indest has served as president of the Iberia Cultural Resources Association since 2006. She helped to spearhead the formation of the Iberia Preservation Alliance, a coalition of the ICRA, the Bayou Teche Museum and the Shadows on the Teche, which all focus on preserving Iberia's unique heritage. Indest was also instrumental in bringing the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra to New Iberia which now presents four free concerts a year. The chamber will bestow the award at its annual banquet to be held on Jan. 24, 2013 at the Cade Community Center.
