The Greater Iberia Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce our 2019 Plan of Work:
In 2019, we will continue our signature programs for developing community leadership through Leadership Iberia, Firestarter Project, and INSPIRE, as well as remain active in local, state, and federal public policy issues. The Greater Iberia Chamber of Commerce will be celebrating eighty years of chamber work in Iberia Parish and planning to bring you the best World Championship Gumbo CookOff as that event turns thirty this year. We will place additional concerted effort toward the following initiatives--
I. Community Image: Continuing the momentum in the community that was captured in the annual banquet is a major priority for the chamber. Across the community, it is clear that while the challenges we have in Iberia Parish are real and must be addressed, those challenges are only a portion of the reality that is Iberia Parish. As an organization, we are happy to be out front working to shift the reputation that the parish has in the region, showcasing Iberia Parish as an economic driver with a rich culture and heritage that is poised for growth and prosperity.
II. Education & Workforce Development: Strengthening people strengthens community and business. The chamber is engaged in a multi-faceted approach supporting education and workforce development from the Work Ready Community Initiative for graduating high school students and transitional workers, to the 55 by 25 regional initiative designed to boost education beyond high school, and promoting the School Readiness tax credit that addresses kindergarten readiness issues.
III. Fall Political Forums: Provide opportunities for community members to meet and hear from candidates who are running for political offices this fall. There will be several important races on the ballot this year.
