Heart disease is still the number one killer in America, making it a very real threat, even during this pandemic. February is American Heart Month, and Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) and Iberia Medical Center (IMC) are hosting free cardiovascular screenings to promote the importance of prevention and early detection.

At the recent Board of Directors meeting, Iberia Crime Stoppers, Inc. awarded a total of $1,900 to qualified tipsters for the month. This included the organization's FIRST $1,000 award to a single tipster.

One of the most entertaining highlights of the Greater Iberia Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Banquet is the awarding of first, second, and third plate awards to three local restaurants.

Chamber Chairperson, Wendell Verret, announced at the Chamber’s Annual Banquet last week that Thomas (Tommy) Falgout will be stepping into the role of Chamber CEO after the Chamber’s Board of Directors reached a unanimous decision on the matter.

On July 29th, over 400 Chamber members, business leaders and elected officials met at Bayou Oaks Ballroom for the largest business event in the region- the 2021 GICC Annual Banquet. For the first time in almost a decade, the Chamber was able to host its banquet in the parish, thanks to the recent re-opening of Bayou Oaks Ballroom and presenting sponsorship from Iberia Medical Center.
