FEBRUARY IS AMERICAN HEART MONTH: CIS & IMC to Offer Free Heart Health Screenings

Author: Marketing Manager

NEW IBERIA- Heart disease is still the number one killer in America, making it a very real threat, even during this pandemic. February is American Heart Month, and Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) and Iberia Medical Center (IMC) are hosting free cardiovascular screenings to promote the importance of prevention and early detection.

The free screenings will take place on Thursday, February 10 and Wednesday, February 23 from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. Screenings will include an electrocardiogram (EKG), a test that records the electrical signals of the heart, and an ankle brachial index (ABI) screening to test for blood flow and blockages in the legs.  Results will be reviewed on-site with a medical provider.

Now more than ever, heart health is important and symptoms should not be ignored. Know your risk and be screened.  Risk factors of vascular disease include family history, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes, as well as smoking, being overweight or being inactive.

Registration is required for the free screenings. Visit https://cisnifeb22.eventbrite.com to reserve your spot or call 985-873-5058 with questions. To schedule an appointment with a cardiologist at CIS in New Iberia, visit www.cardio.com or call 337-367-5200.
